NORMAL SKIN
What It's Like: Lucky you! Your skin is neither dry or greasy but falls somewhere in-between.
Treating It Right: Use a non-soap cleanser that won’t disturb the skin’s healthy pH balance. Moisturize daily and use sun protection to guard against free radical damage.
OILY SKIN
What It's Like: Oily skin is the curse of a pimple-plagued teen,
but this greasy, sometimes shiny skin type can become a blessing as
you age because it keeps you younger-looking than your dry-skinned
contemporaries.
Treating It Right: Wash your face morning and night followed by a
toner and light moisturizer. In between, use oil blotting tissues
whenever your skin looks shiny or greasy. Skin care products with
herbs like saw palmetto will help regulate oil production. Products
containing tea tree oil or lavender essential oil can help treat
blemishes.
COMBINATION SKIN
What It's Like: Some areas – often the forehead, nose and chin – are oily while others, like cheeks, are normal to dry.
Treating It Right: Wash oily areas, also called the T-zone, at least twice a day with a non-drying cleanser. Gently dab toner on oily areas and use a moisturizer on dry areas every day. |
